Authority to Leave

Authority to leave a parcel for an Unattended Delivery

All the parcels we send out use track and trace facilities so ideally the parcel will arrive when you are at the address you arranged, then you sign for it and everything is complete. In remote areas the date which the delivery should be made is not always known precisely; this is because the Postie/courier does always know and does always scan on the day its being delivered.

When using courier if the delivery is attempted to your address and no one is able to sign for it, then they usually transfer it to a nearby depot and leave a "Sorry we missed you" card with a number to call to arrange a re-delivery.

Occasionally they will drop it at a nearby business and invite you to collect it from that premises.

You might prefer for the parcel is left at your delivery address in your absence. This is called "Authority to Leave".

If you would prefer for the delivery person to leave the parcel for you in your absence, please just put an authority to leave note (and your preferred location for the goodies to be left) in the "Order Comments" box during the checkout process. For examples "If no one is home please leave by the front door". Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that the person making the delivery will specifically follow the location instructions exactly but, delightfully, we have used this authority to leave many hundreds of times without any issues.

It is important to consider that if you give us authority to leave the consignment in your absence then we can no longer guarantee that you will receive your consignment, nor the other factors that can effect your parcel whilst it is sitting unattended - like rain, heat, dirt, damage, etc. In this situation, we can only guarantee delivery and quality up to the point that the track and trace tells us the goods were left for you.
