AMTicide® VAF is a product from Active Micro Technologies, developed by co-fermenting Bacillus subtilis with Saccharomyces boulardii in a defined growth media to deliver a non-irritating, effective, multifunctional product. AMTicide® VAF is effective at preventing the growth of fungus in packaging headspace in many types of formulations.
AMTicide® VAF was created to fill a gap in the market; preserving packaging headspace. Packaging is a crucial part of the successful preservative process of cosmetic and skincare products. Ensuring the packaging headspace remains free of contamination in a variety of packaging types is critical in preventing contamination of an entire formulation.
For example, leaving space between the contents and the lid of the packaging allows ample opportunity for growth after a hot formulation has cooled. A synthetic volatile antimicrobial called Phenoxyethanol, has been commonly used to prevent head space growth, but the continued push for formulators to explore alternative natural options continues. AMTicide® VAFis a great natural volatile anti-fungal solution.
use in conjunction with one of Active Micro Technology's broad-spectrum antimicrobials such as Leucidal Liquid, Leucidal Liquid SF, or Leucidal Liquid SF MAX, however it can be used alongside many preservative packages for extra protection against yeast and mold associated with packaging.
The choice of preservatives for personal care formulations should be carefully considered. This is especially true when using natural antimicrobials and or other “mild” antimicrobials. We recommend that every formula undergo stability and microbial testing to ensure adequate preservation.

Useage 1 - 2 % at cooldown, use in conjunction with leucidal TM
